I’m Brent Shumaker, a Houston-based graphic designer focused on brand identity, visual systems, and communication design. My background includes work in healthcare, higher education, operations, and service-based business, which has shaped how I approach design: clear, thoughtful, and built to solve real problems.
I bring a mix of design training, business education, and hands-on operational experience to my work. That means I care just as much about how something functions as how it looks. Whether I’m building a brand system, designing a publication, or organizing complex information, my goal is the same: make it clear, make it useful, and make it feel intentional.
WHAT I DO
I create thoughtful, usable design that helps brands and organizations communicate more clearly, consistently, and effectively. My work includes brand identity, layout design, marketing collateral, visual systems, and communication design for both print and digital use.
EXPERIENCE
My background includes freelance design work, institutional experience supporting UTHealth Houston and MD Anderson, and earlier experience in production design, photography, and the U.S. Air Force. I also hold an MBA, which adds another layer to how I think about communication, structure, and problem-solving. That mix of creative and operational experience continues to shape the way I work today.
